Founded in California as a response to the Iraq war

1998

Name changed to Life for Relief and Development, Veterans for Peace partnership begins, Sierra Leone office opens

1999

Granted Consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN, emergency team traveled to Albania during Kosovo war, Sierra Leone registration granted, office opens

2000

Repaired water treatment facilities in Iraq, Registered with USDA

2001

Aided victims of Bhuj, India earthquake, registration granted in Pakistan, office opens to aid Afghan refugees during USA war

2002

Afghanistan registration granted, 2 orphanages opened. Attended UN World Humanitarian Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa

2003

Joined Interaction, Syria registration granted, office opens, emergency aid to Iraqi’s during USA war, awarded UNICEF grant to rebuild water treatment centers and schools in Iraq

2004

Quadrennial report approved by the UN Jordan and UAE registrations granted, offices open, provided aid to survivors of the Tsunami in Indonesia

2005

Israel and Palestine registration granted, office opened, emergency aid for survivors of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, USA and the earthquake in Pakistan

2006

Awarded UN Habitat grant for Iraq, emergency team to Syria and Lebanon during Israel conflict

2007

Aided survivors of Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh, constructed 100 bed orphanage in Sierra Leone

2008

Quadrennial report approved by the UN, funding from Mohammed Bin Rashid Charity, Dubai to construct 3 clinics a high school in Iraq

2009

Sent 125 pilgrims to Hajj from African nations, established 9 libraries in Iraq, aided victims of Indonesian earthquake

2010

Won Noble Humanitarian Award in Dubai, UAE, Haiti and Ghana registrations granted, offices open

2011

Aided the people of Libya, Syria and Turkey and constructed and opened 4 community centers in Sierra Leone

2012

Quadrennial report approved by the UN, funding from Mohammed Bin Rashid Charity in the UAE to construct 2 clinics and 4 schools in Iraq, aid to Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey

2013

Registered with the USAID, Partnership with Relief International to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria

2014

Signed agreement with UNRWA to aid Gaza, sent hospital beds, medical aid and medicines to Ebola centers in Sierra Leone

2015

Dug water wells and supported a mobile clinic in Kyrgyzstan, aided families affected by the Nepal earthquake

2016

Quadrennial report approved by the UN, aided Syrian refugees in the US and survivors of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, first on the ground during Mosul Iraq crisis

2017

Emergency drought relief Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, Hurricane Harvey relief Texas, Irma relief in Florida and Marie relief in Puerto Rico

2018

Indonesia earthquake relief first medical aid shipment arrived in Gaza

2019

Quadrennial report approved by the UN, COVID 19 emergency relief initiated, emergency flood relief in Sudan, Bangladesh, Yemen and Afghanistan, Beirut Blast emergency relief

2021

COVID 19 emergency relief ongoing to over 100,000 people, ambulanced donated to hospitals in Lebanon and Bangladesh. Somaliland, Kenya and Yemen registrations granted, offices opened.

Somalia and Malaysia registrations granted, offices opened. Recognized as one of the top 10 US Humanitarian Organization by Impactful Ninja

Turkey/Syria/Morocco Earthquake Relief, Gaza Emergency Relief Initiated, Tanzania registration granted, office opened, Eye clinic established for Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazaar Bangladesh

2024

Quadrennial report approved by the UN, Gaza emergency relief includes tent camp and education academy construction, Emergency flood relief in 6 countries (Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Myanmar, Yemen and Somalia)

2025

Received the Dubai Humanitarian Award for Most Impactful Partnership for LIFE’s Gaza Tents Project
